The story

Eurosia Fabris, called "Mamma Rosa", was born in 1866 near Vicenza, Italy. She left school after two years to work on her family's farm and as a dressmaker.

In 1886 a neighbour's wife died, leaving two baby girls. Eurosia began caring for them, then married their father, Carlo Barban. They had nine children of their own and took in others, and three of her sons became priests. She was a support to the whole village: she taught the catechism, sewed, nursed the sick and gave food away. She became a Franciscan tertiary. She died in 1932 and was beatified in 2005.

Blessed, not yet a saint

Eurosia Fabris was beatified in 2005.

Beatification allows public veneration, usually in a particular region or religious family. Canonization extends it to the whole Church.
