Baring-Gould’s sources: By the Bollandists on Oct 17. “Memorials of British Piety, or a British Martyrology,” on Dec. 24; The day on which he is commemorated in Brittany is Sept 12.] According to tradition in Brittany, S. Levan or Levian was a native of Britain, no doubt of Cornwall, where there is a church dedicated to him. He is said to have vowed him[Dec. tf self to God at an early age, within the walls of a monastery. He was constituted abbot. As many other British saints in the sixth century migrated to Armorica, Levan was seized with the same impulse, and crossed to Brittany, where he was consecrated regionary bishop; he had his cell at Tr 6darzec, near Tr^guier. Before 1793 he was commemorated merely as an abbot and confessor. His relics were translated to Paris along with those of S. Leuthiem in 965. He is invoked in Brittany in behalf of deformed children.
