Their story
Pancharius, a young Christian, became secretary to the emperor Maximian. His mother and sister wrote urging him not to be ashamed of Christ, and the letter moved him to pray aloud for mercy.
Someone overheard and told the emperor that his favourite was a "Nazarene" (a Christian). He confessed his faith to the emperor, refused to renounce it, and was scourged on the emperor's orders. He was then sent to Nicomedia to be tried by the governor, questioned again, and, still holding firm, condemned to death by the sword.
